ಶಿರಸಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಒಂದು ತಾಲೂಕು ಕೇಂದ್ರ. ಈ ಜಾಗವು ಪ್ರಶಾ೦ತ ಪರಿಸರ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಚ್ಚ ಹಸಿರಾದ ಕಾಡುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿ. ಈ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಾರಿಕಾಂಬ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ ಸಹ ಇದೆ.ಶ್ರಿ ಮಾರಿಕಾಂಬೆಯ ಜಾತ್ರೆ ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ಎ೦ಟು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಈಊರಿನಸನಿಹಇರುವ ಕೆಲವು ರಮಣೀಯ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳು ಯಾಣ, ಬನವಾಸಿ, ಸೊಂದಾ ಮಠ, ಸೊದೆ (ವಾದಿರಾಜಮಠ), ಸಹಸ್ರಲಿ೦ಗ,ಇದು ಕಾಡಿನಿ೦ದ ಆವರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳ ಜನ ಅಡಿಕೆ ಬೆಳೆಗಾರರು. ತೆ೦ಗು, ಭತ್ತ, ವೆನಿಲ್ಲಾ, ಕೋಕಾಗಳನ್ನೂಸಹಇಲ್ಲಿಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.ಶಿರಸಿಯ ಮಾರಿಕಾಂಬಾದೇಗುಲವುಬಹಳ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ೨೦೦೧ರ ಜನಗಣತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರಈ ಊರಿನ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ೫೮,೭೧೧. ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ೭೯ ಶೇಕಡಾಜನರುವಿದ್ಯಾವಂತರು. ಇವರುಕನ್ನಡ(ಹವ್ಯಕಕನ್ನಡ, ಕೊಂಕಣಿ, ಉರ್ದು, ಮರಾಠಿ ಮಾತಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯಜನ ಬಹಳ ಸೌಹಾರ್ದಶೀಲರು.ಸಿರಸಿ ಸಮುದ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಿಂದ೫೯೦ ಮೀಟರ್ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿಸಹ್ಯಾದ್ರಿಪರ್ವತಶ್ರೇಣಿಯ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದುಕರ್ನಾಟಕದರಾಜಧಾನಿಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ೪೨೫ಕಿ.ಮಿ. ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
Brief about Sirsi city :
Sirsi is a town in Uttara Karnataka, is a hill station populated with 58,702 people.This town is surrounded with thick green forest & with many water falls.Hubli being the nearest city, business opportunities are plenty. Supari (Arecanut or Betulnut) is the main business of the people. People own areca farms in acres & are satisfying the needs of the people all over India & Abroad. Sirsi - is a tranquil town, dotted with terracotta-tiled houses, Jain Basadis (temples) and ancient Hindu temples. The 16th Century Marikamba Temple enshrines a wooden deity, that is believed to have been found in a tank. The temple has a car festival once in two years. Scarce in numbers are unheard of this fair of historical fame. Millions of devotees rush in from remote parts of the country to attend this scintillating fair of Shri Marikamba. By getting darshana and blessings of Shri Devi, they become fortunate and opulent in life. Innumerable devotees of Goddess Marikamba of SIRSI are spread over in the neighboring states of kerala,Tamilnadu and Andra Pradesh. Sri Marikamba as she is believed has become the chief goddess of worship, a family deity of the people of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada districts

ಶಿರಸಿ ನಗರಸಭೆಯ ಜನನ ಮರಣದ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು 1-1-1991 ರಿಂದ ಈಗಿನವರೆಗಿನ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಣಕೀಕರಿಸಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಹರ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ, ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಎರುಡೂ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ನಿರ್ಮಲನಗರ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಆಸ್ತಿ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ಅಂತಿಮ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.
